i can't believe that beam is reasonably sized.
Seams like engineer have no clue what he's doing, most of them don't. And Bob to showing this.
He never answered how he derived at that overkill beam .how do you determine the actual load its going to carry

So what I understand from this ,is that you don't necessarily need supporting beam from 1 solid piece of wood,you can sister few of them and make strong support , right?
Bob Villa Use a Crescent Wrench properly. The Big end goes toward the stress not the other way around.
this over kill could be down with less wood
