How to Install a Shark Bite Shut Off Valve in a Bathroom (Step-by-Step) — by Home Repair Tutor
This video shares how to install a SharkBite water shutoff valve. This is super easy and quick. But there is some prep for the pipe and tips you should know. Below are the supplies we used for this project.
1/2″ sharkbite shut-off valves – http://amzn.to/2hZJ3J3
Sharkbite Debur and depth tool – http://amzn.to/2zZYrvN
Sharkbite Disconnect tool – http://amzn.to/2hIStFc
1/2″ auto-cut tool – http://amzn.to/2A0PzG7

No soldering required and I promise anyone can do this.
There’s nothing worse than a nasty water leak….which can lead to damaged drywall, mold, etc.
Having shut off valves that actually WORK can help prevent this bad stuff from happening.
I’m remodeling a bathroom at one of my rentals and wanted to share how I installed a pair of SharkBite shutoff valves in less than 9 minutes.
It might take you longer or shorter.
Point is this, you can do yourself and save a boat load of money.
The first step is turn off the water at your water main.
Drain your homes water at the lowest point, usually a laundry tub or outdoor spigot.
Cut your copper pipes with an AutoCut tool, I love this because it’s small and fits in tight spaces.
Deburr the inside of copper pipe with either a deburring tool or utility knife.
Sand down the edge of the copper and first 1 inch using emery cloth or a pipe tool.
Place the SharkBite depth tool on your pipe and make a mark 1 inch in from the edge.
Slide the SharkBite water shut off valve onto your pipe and PRESTO, you’re done.

I did this for my shower/bathtub but they make shut off valves for toilets and sinks.

Gezz. Why would you not re pipe? You’re down to the studs & those pipes…
This tutorial is great! I added an access panel to the backside of my tub/shower from my laundry room when I had to repair water damage before tiling. Now, my tub faucet is leaking and I want to add shutoff valves so I don't have to turn the water off for the whole house for this and future repairs.
you left out half the install
