Installing a Pocket Door Frame in an Existing Wall
Today I am installing a pocket door frame in an existing wall that happens to be for our guest bathroom. The existing bathroom door swung to the right as you walked in. It’s amazing how much room the swing of a door takes up in a small bathroom. It takes up about 8 square feet. This one of the main reasons why we love pocket doors.
We showed you a video last week of the built-in shelves that we are planning to install in the wall behind where the door used to swing in front of it. You can watch that video here:

Now you know why the wall was all torn up. I had not talked about the installation of our new pocket door. Before we start the built-in shelves project we needed to finish the drywall around the pocket door. So I thought I would talk about the pocket door frame in this video. I have installed many over the years because they are co easy.
So this video explains the installation of the pocket door frame.
I didn’t show hanging of the door and how it slides, that will have to be in another video.

Why would someone hate a pocket door right? Those are space saving, if you do it right, like you guys are doing it.
the running commentary and questions by wifey was UNNECESSARY and actually disruptive and annoying…just get the shot…AND the cat…

Why would people hate pocket doors? They’re delightful!
I'd love to change a few traditional doors into pocket ones in my home. Why do people dislike them? I think they make the most of a space.
