Kitchen Remodel Regrets | What I’d Do Different
After living with my new kitchen for a few years, I’ve learned that there are some things that worked beautifully, and some things that could definitely have been done in a better way. Here are my little secrets as to what I would choose to do differently if I could do the kitchen remodel all over again – I hope this helps you on your own remodel and renovation projects!

I absolutely love your kitchen! As for my mistake – we painted all the cherry wood cabinets that were in the house we just purchased with mineral paint in the colour "Raw Silk". It's a warm creamy white which we love, that goes beautifully with the copper handles and lighting in the space. It was the breath of fresh air this 130 year old farmhouse needed and I'm so glad we did it. This creamy white looked beautiful for about a day and a half! We have 3 dogs, one who is a 65lb. puppy who loves to dig and play outside. There are constantly paw smudges on the lower cabinets and they aren't as wipeable as the mineral paint rep said they'd be.

Personally think leaving space for a walk way was a smart decision, if you did add a few seats to the island, the flow would have been halted and be less productive in the kitchen. My mom has a giant peninsula/island in her kitchen that covers the entrance to the basement from outside, but the travel flow is tight because of it and it can be awkward if people want to talk are a roadblock to other guests have a destination to get to.

I'm reading the comments and realizing nobody should have to fight with a contractor about anything. If this is what you paid for this is what you should get. I've had to do battle with contractors trying to push something on me and believe me, when they push something, it's for THEIR benefit not yours. Either the work is easier on them or they have leftover of some material. I honestly don't believe the guy who put in your island made an honest mistake. If he did, he would have offered to correct it or give you a discount. He was hedging his bets that you'd just cave and he won.
We are planning a kitchen reno soon and I have my armor on. I will have to find a nice way to tell a contractor up front that I'm going to get what I pay for and I don't want a fight on whatever I pick for my own kitchen. They move on to the next job and you have live with it! Your kitchen is beautiful though really
Hello, you have a spectacular kitchen. It would be wonderful if you could give me some information about your beadboard backsplash, how did you seal/treat it for use behind the range? I am hoping to use beadboard for my backsplash in an upcoming kitchen renovation but am concerned about keeping it clean. Thank you!!!
