I CAME HERE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO KMS
Wow that ceiling was nasty. Mine was in similar shape, and I decided to rip it out. The joists are fine but they're 24" apart and code requires drywall screws every 12" on ceilings. My two options are install a layer of furring strips perpendicular to the joists but I'm thinking the better option is hang 2x4s parallel to the joists. Any thoughts?
We are redoing our bathroom due to mold/mildew issue. We want to make sure we do our best to avoid this from happening again. In your opinion, is the regular drywall we have for our ceiling appropriate or is there a better material we should use? We also have 5/8” regular drywall on the walls. Will this be a problem tiling in the shower with 1/2” board or be a problem with moisture?
Thanks for your video.
I’m going to be doing a bathroom ceiling and I really like the idea of the 2 x 4 to help hold the drywall in place something I would’ve never thought of

I was trained not to have my joints where my box cuts are….right on the joint….over time that fan will shake witch will cause a crack across the ceiling …or different states have different ways not sure….
Use a pencil to mark on anything you plan to paint, markers and ink pens will "bleed through" the paint. You might not see it when you first paint it but it will usually show up eventually. Also use a pencil on back of vinyl flooring (will eventually come through the wear side) and on wallpaper too.
I am putting a sound barrier sheathing in my bathroom. It measure 1/2 inch. What size sheetrock do I need to use to put in the bathroom? 5/8 inch?
