Excellent idea! I did the same thing but I used that lightweight vinyl spackling compound. Trowled on the exposed brick area, let it set up for a couple of hours then free handed and cut in the bricks. It took about a day for it to dry hard. Like your method much better!
my wife wants to do a faux brick in our kitchen. I was thinking of installing faux brick panels but I have a vaulted kitchen ceiling. this might be a lot easier. another great video!
