Easy steps to replacing a toilet…
Shut off water to toilet
Flush toilet and empty/drain toilet tank
Disconnect water line to toilet tank
Remove toilet flange nuts and washers (1 on each side of toilet)
Rock the toilet back and forth to break the wax seal and lift toilet to remove.
Remove old toilet wax ring completely from toilet flange.
Place new toilet flange bolts on flange with plastic holding washers.
Place new toilet wax ring or waxless toilet seal on toilet flange. Follow instructions for the wax ring you get and for the flange height to floor type you have.
Place new toilet bowl onto flange, align flange bolts to the holes in the toilet and set in place.
Put on new washer and nuts and hand tighten them on each side of toilet.
Use adjustable wrench to tighten flange nuts down, but don’t over tighten.
Check for level of toilet bowl, additional tightening may be needed and toilet shims might be needed based on how level your floor is for the install.
Assemble new toilet tank to place on toilet bowl. Don’t forget to put on the toilet tank gasket.
Place toilet tank on toilet bowl and tighten washers and nuts to tank bolts down.
Install toilet seat.
Attach water supply line to toilet.
Turn on water at the toilet supply valve.
Let fill up with water and flush a few times and check for leaks.
Check for leaks around toilet base, toilet tank to bowl and water supply line. Additional tightening may be needed.
