The Big Dig: Hand Digging Out A 100-Year-Old Basement
We dug out our basement and finished it to add a gym, home theater, and golf simulator. 80,000+ pounds of dirt and concrete out, 30,000+ pounds of concrete back in. Glad I did it – won’t do it again. Oh, the gravel and plastic are for radon, not carbon monoxide – and it worked!

I used to work concrete as a laborer when I was 18, that has to be one of the hardest jobs I have ever had, when we had to do breaks outs of driveways with the jackhammer then toss all the chunks in the dump truck, you would come home beat up and wore out

A friend did this to his basement. When I saw it I was like how in the hell did these guys remove 4 feet of dirt over 1200 square feet.
