Stainless Steel Flux Core Welding (with Gas)
A big thank you to Praxair and Abicor Binzel for sending us the fume extraction system for this video. For more information on fume extraction, visit: http://www.praxairwelding.com/automation/fume-removal/tip-extraction-collector
Today we are doing some gas shielded flux core welding on Stainless Steel.

Would you weld over head with the same tip angle and the same stick out ?
Oh I’m strictly a stringer guy ,more small stringers are stronger than a weave and you can control your heat input /distortion a lot better ( forest gump voice (a Lott).
Does it run similar to dual shield ?
Great video man! Very helpful. How do you film your welding close up like that, and keep the natural color?
6:08 Nice demo of fume extraction. I wonder if there's a way to make a stinger with that vacuum attached to it?
What is the benefit with using gas with flux core, and can I use gas with any type of flux core wire (stainless or with mild steel)
The stringer you did was stupid wide no shit it failed.
Weave vs stingers…
Both movements are acceptable for obtaining a AWS structural steel cert.
With that being said, one must choose the best movement that is able to be attained by oneself. Like a signature, everyone's is different. I used the weave when I certified for structural steel 2" thick plate, carbon steel 3G
I personally think the weave looks best and enjoy having mastered the weave movements
I ran Kobelco SS wires that could run on CO2 or 75/25 on low pressure air pipe and plate for about 7 years. I really wish I had taken time to experiment with back purging with the same gas when I had that job.
