Below is a timeline of the video so that you can rewatch the main events in the video. Just click on the time shown in blue on the left to be brought to that particular point in the video. I hope you learn a lot from this video series.
00:00 Introduction
01:27 Tools needed — Kurt and Avian tell you the tools that will be required. They are inexpensive and very common but it is very important that you have the right gear. The tools include a large and small paint brush some scrapers of different sizes, a putty knife, some buckets, sandpaper, screwdrivers, woodworking chisel, a natural bristle brush for applying stain, an orbital sander, some large sheets for protecting the floor surface, a vacuum cleaner, some paper towels and tack cloth and safety gear such as goggles, a vapour mask and rubber gloves and also a “tooth brush” with brass bristles. All of these tools can be purchased from any decent hard ware store.
02:25 Avian stresses the importance of protecting the floor from spillages. This will stop your floor from being chemically damaged. To embark on this project you should choose a place that is well ventilated and well lit.
03:57 The old finish on the furniture is stripped using a chemical stripper. The stripper is spread thickly. To begin a thick/ semi liquid stripping paste is used and then when ¾ of the old finish is removed then the rest will be removed using a thinner stripper The furniture is now ready to be scraped after the stripper has been left to dissolve the paint for a couple of hours.
I hope you have enjoyed this first video in the trilogy. Be sure to watch the second part and then the third part to learn more.
