That drunk moment when dowel starts to sound like drawer. In all seriousness, great build! I’m going to make a circle cutting jig for my router now.
Quick tip for anyone using a circle-cutting router jig — if you want to avoid the nail hole in the center of your piece, which in this case isn’t noticeable but sometimes does get a bit annoying, there are lots of options but the easiest I’ve found is to use CA glue on some painter’s tape to temporarily adhere a piece of any 3/8” or 1/2” level (yes, level is important unless you’re desperate to get a tilted circle) to the center of your target piece, nail into that, clamp the target piece down and go to town with your plunge router. It adds more depth to need to plunge but you can always take a pass with a pattern/flush-cut bit if you can’t plunge deep enough and it avoids a hole on either side if anyone’s ever going to be able to see it. That’s a beautiful cart and nice work with the patches on the tray walls. I’d probably just have scrapped them, honestly, without even bothering to try to fix it. Oops.
nice job on the rings, i think i want to try that. Aren't you concerned with wood movement on the bottom of the trays?
Outstanding. Thank you for sharing so much of your problem solving process! It’s not a mistake if you can fix it. 🙂
Was going to leave a funny comment but I'm too drunk to think of anything and im out of liquor now.
