Guys BASH Sewing But It’s THE EXACT SAME THING AS WOODWORKING!

I wanted to make this video because whenever I bring up what it is that I do people think that it’s odd. Telling people that I use a sewing machine and show people how to tailor their clothes is met with some weird looks and comments from my friends and my family.

But the thing that most people don’t realize is that woodworking and carpentry is the same thing as sewing and tailoring, like to a T. You use the same skill set, and take two things, cut them at a certain angle and then join them with something like thread, nails, glue, or screws.

But if i told people that I had a woodworking channel no one would bat an eye…

  1. Very well said. I’m glad you took time to express this thought/idea. It is about using our creative minds to bring about a solution…no matter what the material. -Karl

  2. Did you make videos of your woodworking additions? Also, do you have a video on the correct way to cut off the thread once you’re done sewing something? As in the correct angle for the machine?

  3. I just want to say thank you for all your videos. I finally got a sewing machine this past weekend and tailored a couple T-shirts. I had to defend myself a little bit with my wife about it. So great timing on the video. LOL I reminded her that my grandpa, who had horses and did upholstery work and laid carpet was one of the toughest man I know also knew how to sew with his business for many decades.

  4. This is hilarious! I've always noticed these similarities because my husband does woodworking. I've always described it as taking a flat piece of something, cut it up into multiple pieces, putting them back together and creating a there dimensional new item. Plus, there are so many detailed factors to consider with each project, like how will each fabric or type of wood behave? Great video!
