In this video I am building a new metal and wood entry gate. I used 16 gauge steal square tubing for the frame, and pressure treated wood for the center.

I applied a matte black finish to the metal, and thompsons water seal to the wood. I used my Hobart handler 140 set up with mig gas (75/25) for all of my welding.
Kinda wish I had my flux core wire in because it was windy at times and I could diffidently tell my gas was being blown away.

I Had the worlds worst opening to fill with my material. Vertically the wall was out an 1.5” from top to bottom. Across the bottom the concrete dipped 2 inches. What a pain it was trying to get all the correct angles. I diffidently stuck with it and gotter done folks (Redneck repair) .

this was diffidently a great project to hone your welding skills.
hope you enjoyed this metalworking woodworking diy project

Till next time ladies and gents….

  1. Nice job Stelios, but Ive spent my working life encouraging people to to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) so they wont hurt themselves at work. Put some shoes on dude (0.45), people look up to you, don't be bad example.

  2. I am confident that the safety flip flop foot wear chosen for the tack welding portion of this job are OSHA approved…….hahahhahahah all kidding aside,,,,,, great job looks good
