In this video i renovate an existing kitchen into one of my best jobs. I start with the removal of the old kitchen cabinets and gut the entire walls and ceiling. I use regular 6″ t&g knotty pine barn siding for the ceiling. The ceiling boards are cut to size to fit a staggered repeated pattern. I use white stain and satin polyurethane to give the ceiling a beachy look. There is a part in the kitchen video where i show you how to prep for the cultured stone work. I use 1/2″ exterior plywood then 30lb felt paper with galvanized metal lath nailed on with 1″ galvanized staples. The metal lath is then coated with a thin coat of mortar. It is then roughed up with a finger trowel so the cultured stone will stick very well. For the floor i prep the subfloor to accept a Ditra underlayment. Ditra is a polyethylene waterproofing underlayment that is flexible and very durable to accept the floor tile. The finish floor is an 8″ x 36″ porcelain plank tile with a wood look. I show you a few things about installing the porcelain tile and what thinset to use.

  1. These sick homeowners wasting money and natural resources to dismantle a perfectly nice kitchen to get a new look. Imagine if that money and talent were used to help the less fortunate among us.
