BEFORE & AFTER: How to Paint a Bathtub and Clean It. Does It Last?? – Thrift Diving

Wondering how to paint a bathtub because it’s a horrible 1970’s color or your bathtub needs to be freshened up? Watch how I refinish a powder blue bathtub for a neighbor, and show you how I clean my own painted fiberglass shower. I painted my shower about 2.5 years ago and it’s held up nicely, except for some dirt stains in the bottom (with a few minor chips). Overall, the results have lasted!

I’m kicking off Bathroom Week! Stay tuned for more bathroom projects this week! 🙂

  1. You should fill the tub up with water before caulking.

The shape of the tub will change when it is full of water (the weight of the water presses the plastic of the tub out making it bulge), and if you caulked when it was empty the caulk may get pulled off the wall when you fill it.
