Looks GREAT!
first off, you do you. it's your place, be happy. However I want to say that I find it disappointing that you go through all the effort and trouble to get that nice pre made shell, Insulate the hell out of it with Foam, and then don't run any plumbing or electrical beforehand. Then to top it off, you omit using something simple like panel board to finish off the floors and ceiling. It will never never look "good" and finished the way you've stated. it will look like a tin foil hatter did it. I mean I get that you are going from an RV to this, but why finish it like this? it would have not cost much more if any to buy panel boards and slap them up with Batons, and then use a little trim router to cut out the windows. it would look elegant and finished.
It is your home, and if it makes you happy then whatever I suppose, but as you are explaining it, you can hear in your voice the need to defend your choice, which I think means you yourself aren't even sure you have made a good choice.
I know you could rip it down later, but what a waste of money when you do decide.
Also, how much insulation could you possibly need in Arizona? That foam SHOULD have been adequate for our area on its own. The flooring is interesting, but still 100 times more than you need.
Get yourself a little ductless split heat pump, and you are good year round, super efficient and would ruin on your solar setup with ease, year round. heat and cooling.
makes me wonder whats next? Tin foil duct taped to the siding to reflect the sun ?
When I saw that you were ordering a pre made shell, and then that shell arrived, I was really excited for you, but just like the Clampets, you just can't have nice things, lol
Don't be mad, this is just how I feel, and I will continue to watch, even with the cringes and gasps.
Lookin' good! Very homey already. Very well sealed. The wall cover, curtains and carpet really transform the place. I think Reflectix on the walls is a great idea especially with the gap left from the foam. If you ever want to change up the look of the walls you could use salvaged materials like pallet wood or corrugated galvanized panels to create accent walls, like in the kitchen or behind the bed, and put it right over what you have now. I had to put up a couple of temporary 1×4's to span between wall studs because my shelf units were narrower than what I needed. It's all about being creative to make your space work for you.
Man, Robert, it is really taking shape. That looks like a ton of work….good that you're still young…lol….I bet the Ranch House would take on a Minnesota and win !! Are you and doggies sleeping in it now?
Love your alternative .. unconventional styles. We all have to improvise sometimes. Like your floor coating Idea and it will work 😀 Thank you for sharing this video with us.
very smart… i like your solution for drywall. it makes a lot of sense. hopefully it will work like a charm… i m watching to see how well it keep u insulated. i may do the same… was it less expensive? please do updates on how well this works.. i assume u will cannibalize the motor home for its air conditioner (if it works) lookin great u should be proud
Insulation is priority in the desert. Lower heating and cooling costs..
Thumbs up!!!
