Saturday’s events:
10:30 am | Morning yoga
Start your morning right with a brief yoga session led by Elisa.
11:00 am | Homesteading hour
Hearthside Farm will present a homesteading hour showing you how to process your own wool and fiber processing along with making herbal remedies and crafting healing balms.
Noon | Repurposing is for the birds
Join Okie from RewineDesigns to craft birdhouses from repurposed materials.
12:30 pm | Sustainability for business & profit
Focus on people, planet and profit to bring sustainability into your business through a balanced scorecard. Smart Management Consulting will also guide you through engaging staff in supporting sustainability goals. This one is for all businesses — big and small.
1:00 pm | Getting to know your local city
Naw-fok-Get to know this city you call home! Short DVD presentation, fun facts and prizes. Each attendee also receives a special ticket encouraging exploration of Norfolk on your own. Bring your Iphone and take a scavenger hunt right on ODU’s campus after this presentation. You won’t leave without gaining something. Presented by VisitNorfolk-Norfolk Convention and Visitors Bureau staff.

11:30 am | Beekeeping
This topic remains one of the most popular we offer every year at the fair. Visit us again this year to learn the basics of beekeeping. 
Noon | Raw food as medicine
Sit in on a presentation to learn about how you can use raw food as medicine.
12:30 pm | Urban chickens
Hampton Roads Hens are joining us all weekend and will present on what you need to know about keeping hens at home.
1:00 pm | Reduce, reuse, recycle in the garden
Our very own Norfolk Master Gardeners will lead you through taking sustainability into the garden and thinking about how you can reduce, reuse and recycle when you’re planning your garden projects.
1:30 pm | Making butter
Learn how to make fresh, creamy butter at home. This one will be a lot of fun for the kids too.
2:00 pm | Canning basics
Learn to can from the best in town! Duane from Sabrosa Foods will guide you through some of the basics you’ll need when you preserve your summer garden fare.
2:30 pm | Fruit trees & small fruits
Our friends at Virginia Tech are coming to town to talk about all things fruit trees. Eric Stormer from VT will discuss fruit trees and small fruits for our fair visitors.
3:00 pm | Conserving resources
An overview of the programs and plans that are saving resources through reduction, reuse and recycling. The value of recycling as a way to conserve resources and dollars for you and your community. 
1:30 pm | Growing mushrooms
Learn the basics of growing mysterious mushrooms at home from local homesteaders and farmers
2:00 pm | Blacksmith demonstration
Getting back to basics, watch a live blacksmith demonstration on the front lawn at ODU Webb Center.
2:30 pm | Grow your own shrimp
Our friends at Virginia State University are hanging out for another fabulous presentation to teach visitors how to grow shrimp at home.
3:00 pm | Aquaponics
Our friends at Virginia State University present aquaponics for the FIRST time at the Sustainable Living Fair. This topic has been one of the most-requested in years past and now’s your chance to watch and learn.
3:30 pm | The Undiscussed Sustainability
Garden Atriums focuses on the actual breadth of sustainability, and how to measure whether or not what we – or anyone else – are doing truly sustainable things by taking a closer look at the non-physical side of sustainability like food, health, transportation, education, sense of community, and even “quality of Life” experience.
4:00 pm | Reducing plastic in your life
Single use plastics are plaguing our environment. Eco Maniac will teach people to rethink, refuse and reduce by offering practical tips and product suggestions for reducing the single use products in everyday life.
