NO WELDING DIY Grill Grates. Cheap and easy
An inexpensive way to replace grill grates with expanded metal mesh for almost any grill without a plasma cutter, welding equipment, or a cutting torch. This took me about an hour. You can get the expanded metal mesh from just about any hardware store. You’ll also need an angle grinder with a steel cutting disk. You’ll also need a piece of scrap lumber to cut a slot into to bend the metal.
I don’t know the gage of the expanded metal but it was the thinner option at Home Depot and it was not galvanized.

I stumbled upon this video and, first of all, admire your hands-on practical skills
I am a metal manufacturer in China, I can produce expanded metal mesh, if you mass production, you can consider me, thank you very much
Looks sturdy, what thickness are those grates?
The groove in the wood was a great idea.
I have that same grill. Except my firebox was toasted. Needed to use some high heat epoxy to patch the holes.
……..There is the answer, since I'm certainly not paying $100 for replacement grills. Which is straight up robbery.
Nice idea!
