This was my first time using white oak in a woodworking project, and I really liked it. For this dining table, I took a different approach with the stretchers, but basically not having one. Instead, I made the upper portion of the leg more robust, and it attaches directly to the underside of the table.

If your day job isn't woodworking it should be filmmaking. I've gotten to the point where I won't watch a new video of yours until I'm sure I won't be interrupted as I watch, usually with both hands wrapped around my morning coffee. It's a great way to get a positive start on the day. Just out of curiousity, what inspired the use of oak for this build? I'm so accustomed to your use of walnut I thought I'd ask about the change.

Admire your work, Chris. Could you please tell what's the recommended angle for table legs (if you plan to make them angled)? What's the angle of legs on the table shown on your video? Would be grateful for your reply

Man I miss your old video formats! The solo guitar, the laid back narration, the deep thoughts. 🙂 I mean don't get me wrong, I love your new stuff too, but this was nice to watch. …anyhow, I'm looking back at your old table builds, thinking its time I made something big like this, now if I can only convince the wife to take the plunge (cost of wood, potential cost of failure lol!).

Hey Chris, want to start off by saying I love your videos. I made a base for my table with a mixture of this and your modern credenza. After finishing I noticed the table wobbles side to side. Not a tremendous amount, but enough to get under my skin. I just wanted to know how stable this table turned out to be? I used 5/4 walnut for all the pieces and my legs went from 4 1/2” to 1 1/2”. Should I add a stretcher between legs, or live with it?
Do yo have a picture or diagram of how the legs attached to the under side of the table?
