Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. If you have grease then use that instead of vasaline as it doesn't melt due to high temperature. Firstly apply tape around the base of plant then apply the grease on it, this way the grease is not directly in contact with the plant tissue

  2. Jeeze, that bird beat the crap out of that caterpillar before it ate it! I stand behind my statement… "No animal dies nicely in the wild". Now I can add bugs to that list!
