From Leaky Basement Dungeon to Dream Workshop | Finishing a Basement Space

I converted a leaky unfinished basement dungeon into a fully finished space to be my new workshop. By doing all of the work myself, I was able to complete this project single handedly for a tiny fraction of what it would cost to hire professionals to do it.

This project involved framing, insulating, soundproofing the ceiling with a variety of different techniques, doing electrical for lighting and outlets, hanging and mudding drywall, installing trim, and painting. In total it took me about two months of mostly working on weekends to complete. The room is about 320 square feet with 7 feet ceilings.

  1. this dripping water from the OUTSIDE you really think that a little cement from the INSIDE will be enough … then people wonder why the US houses fall apart after 20 years … god save America REALLY !

  2. I do think you would have benefitted from maybe covering the oil tanker with a set of double doors or sliding doors. The OSB board whilst painted doesnt really do the room justice.

  3. Not sure of the door requirements, but I would have changed the door from a left swing door to a right swing (easy access to the light switch on entry). I have know idea how that would affect what is behind said door. All is good

  4. For your cosman bench, did you use screws as clamps to laminate the bench or did you use clamps and cauls? I'm getting ready to build the cosman bench. Thx and love the videos.
