10 Minute Tig Welding Job
http://welding-tv.com/the-store/
A quickie Tig welding Job welding carbon steel and carbon to stainless steel. A quick Tack welding technique also shown. Tig welding Carbon steel to stainless can make for a mix of elements that are prone to crack unless you use er309L filler wire. Er309L is designed for the purpose of dissimilar welds. Its good to have on hand for odd jobs and also for removing broken bolts and EZ outs by welding to them for removal. 309 wont harden because it has enough chromium and nickel to retard the hardening mechanism in carbon steel.

Curious, why didn't you add plug welds in the bolt holes?
Son of a bitch! Every time i watch one of your videos i have to go to my shop and do some welding, no matter what crazy hour in the night.

Your detail with job and weld layout process is by far good.
However, i would like see you step up with more high-end jobs like pressed tanks valves or walking cup on titanium. This odd small jobs is great but you have many good resources and like see you step up on weld jobs.

A lifetime later: Speaking of welding the little latch on there 4:00– it immediately suggests plug welds into those holes, don't you think so? Not heating up that spring is of course an issue. But if a bolt or rivet would hold that thing, surely a little plug weld is better? It's like the perfect rivet! Less heat input all together, and closer to the original design intent of the bracket. I'm not hating anything here, I just like plug welds, rosette welds, tig-spot welds.
