DIY Ultra-Thin Curved Concrete Bench || How to Make
This time, I show how to make a DIY curved concrete bench (or coffee table). Since we were using GFRC concrete, we made the bench insanely thin – we definitely pushed limits on this project. Stay tuned to the end of the video to see if it holds the weight of two adults! This project was a collaboration with Chris Salomone from Four Eyes Furniture, and we also made a Lego Concrete River Table, in addition to this bench / coffee table.
We made the sides of the form for the bench from melamine, and the base from bendy ply and vinyl siding. The bendy ply was supported from below by cross brace pieces cut from scrap plywood and melamine. The form making techniques shown in the video could be adapted for many types of tables, benches, or other types of DIY concrete furniture.
The grey concrete color was achieved by using Fishstone’s naturally white glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) concrete mix, and adding a powdered charcoal concrete pigment to the mix.

Hate videos like this!! Lingos used in these videos are just a show off and makes absolute no sense to an average joe like myself. Gbd instead of hgt as opposed to gyd because of jjj… bullshit bullshit bullshit…
hi sir, can are you show material ?
That's impressive! Is there any information how exactly glass fibers affect concrete strength? I already made a small concrete countertop in the bathroom using GFRC, and now wanna make another one in the kitchen. Cast in place style 4 meters wide with concrete sink. Sink part will be supported by two concrete wall, and the whole counter will rest on walls on both sides. But there still be unsupported 2 meters span. And i wonder is 6 cm depth of GFRC enough for this span? It's gonna look like this sketch i made in tinkercad: https://ibb.co/QNqR5p3 P.S. Brown parts are plywood parts of the mold that will stay there to connect cabinet to.
M&M! NICE!
whats the size of the glass fibers that you used? 3mm 6mm ?
i never comment on YT vids but this one is a joke.. that "form" you made was so half ass'd and non symmetrical, might as well just used a hack saw each side. regardless of the glass you used on the inside it will break the second someone plops down on it. you guys sat on it very carefully then just shifted left to right in the :strength showing: part….. this whole project was such a deception… if anyone tries to do this it will not work out.. might as well have called it a "sculpture" or art… not a bench
Why do all u guys use melamine?
Why not use the high gloss hdo plywood that mis made for finished concrete work?
Part of me's like wow, and part like – why? LOL
Its not exactly a one afternoon project but .. Interesting – You know I just thought of a neat application for this shaped wood-concrete composite you got going on (well its now to ME anyhow) – a funky Hig-End speaker design
WAY back in the day they made early sub/woofers with concrete sewer pipe -super-rigid, non resonant … At first I'm thinking the weight must be insane on those things, but at that thickness, perhaps not ???
