  • This is the least informative "tutorial" I have ever seen. How about some common problems you may run into, or an actual step by step guide. You literally just pulled the old one out. Showed why it was bad and stuck the new one in, answering no potential questions or showing exactly how you did it.

  • I've been looking for somebody that took apart the pressure balancer, to see what's inside. My question is: if there is crossover (resulting in lukewarm showers), does it always mean the diaphragm is torn? eg. phister

What about other brands? Do they all have diaphragms?
"diaphragm or piston inside that reacts to relative changes in either hot or cold water pressure to maintain balanced pressure." Can the piston type show crossover?

"The newer piston style pressure balance spools are less likely to cause a crossover than the older diaphragm style." https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/want-a-hotter-shower-trying-to-narrow-down-the-solution.58787/

FROM THE INVENTOR OF PRESSURE BALANCING
    TECHNOLOGY
Did you know Powers patented the very first pressure balancing valve back in 1924 — almost 20 years
before our nearest competitor “developed” their first valve?

  • I have the opposite problem. I have great hot water and pressure however when I dial it back to try and take a cold shower the cold water drips out with no pressure. My tolit and sinks are fine.

  • What brand of tub/shower cartridge and spool is this. Looks like Kohler Rite-temp. Should have explained that. Every brand is different and parts do not interchange.

  • I am shocked that nobody in the comments has so far mentioned the massive sweat patch on Richard's back.

  • So what should I do when this problem is in all 6 faucets in my house?

  • Hmm. Mine makes more of a clicking sound after flushing the toilet or if you turn the basin tap off quickly
