This time In The Shop I’m building my dad a Christmas present. I figured he could use a heavy duty grill grate for his BBQ grill. I used 3/8″ mild steel round bar and some 1/4″ thick laser cut letters. I used an O/A torch, tig welder, band saw and bench grinder to complete most of this project. I’ve never built a BBQ grate before, so we’ll all learn together.

This is a great video and gave me some ideas for rather novel fabricating techniques. Have you considered welding up a Santa Maria style grill in this style?
