In any remodel or new construction project, you’re going to run into obstacles. How do you move forward? There was a floor joist in my way with one of the tub drains, so I had to figure out how to get around it.

  1. Slowly learning and came to this video. The previous owner notched about 4 inches into my floor joist joist now has a bend in it. Figuring I’ll sister the joist and do this offset.

  2. How did you hook up underneath, to go around the floor joist? I have a beam in the way of my shower, that is 8 " steel. Can I make my own P trap as long as the entrance and the exit are the same approximate height ?
