Started Installing Running Water In The Tiny House On Wheels

I started to install the plumbing for running water in my tiny house on wheels. I had already installed the drain for the kitchen sink so that was out of the way. Now it is time to get running water going in my tiny house.,

I am working from the kitchen sink up to the loft where the water tanks will be.

First though I had a water tank out on the porch with some water in it to check for leaks.

While that was sitting there for a while I worked on the plumbing inside the tiny house.

Going from the kitchen sink up to the tank worked better for me since the tank was outside and the kitchen sink was there in front of me.

First I drilled a hole through the bathroom wall into the kitchen to run the PEX tubing through. Then I ran the tubing all the way through, under the kitchen counter and to the sink.

I had already installed the flex hoses and valves under the kitchen sink. I had both turned off for safety.

My first permanent connection was from the main PEX line to the kitchen cold water line. It sure felt good to be getting this going finally after all these months.

Next I cut some of the old barn wood I have outside to support the water tanks and distribute the weight evenly over the bathroom wall.

The boards are 9 inches wide by 1 5/8 inches thick and 4 feet long. Two of these side by side gives me enough support under the tanks. This should take the weight nicely. And these are old barn wood so the grain is more dense as well.

I drilled a hole down through the barn wood into the bathroom below.

Then I ran the PEX tubing and made the connections to the main line to the kitchen. I also put in a cutoff valve to the bathroom so it will be separate.

Upstairs I had the water tank in place and had some water in it testing for leaks with the valve and attachments on it. I wanted to be sure these connections would hold water as well.

When I was comfortable with that I connected it all to the main line and turned on the water valve.

Now it was time to scramble downstairs in a hurry and make sure there were no leaks.

None.

I had to pour more water into the tank upstairs to get some pressure in the lines.

The bathroom valve poured out water nicely. So did the hot water line under the kitchen sink. This is because cold water flows through the faucet and back into the hot water line and out the valve.

But I only had a drip coming out of the kitchen sink. There is not enough pressure to cause water to flow properly yet. I need more water up in the tank.

  • Your  PEX job is looking good. I've never worked with that and one of the few tools I don't have is the crimper tool, what did that cost?  I think you should have some drip pans under those tanks.

  • What are you going to use the ‘y’ dishwasher drain fittings for on both your kitchen sinks for?

  • Running water. That's a big deal for The Tiny House On Wheels. :-)

  • I have no comment on this because I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate pluming. lol good luck

  • Two 55 gal drums up the hill from the cabin will gravity feed good water pressure to the cabin. Rolled onto a rack off your pickup truck and water can be got from any source all year round. Works for me at my off grid cabin.

  • Hi

I had used a water tank, dig him into the ground. I had used a energy efficient hydraulic water pressure system 12 or 24 volt DC.

A water tank on the roof is not so good plan. It become hot in the summer. The water is not drinkable.

  • i been watching all videos about battery off grid on the end you still dependent on petrol or diesel......but on the end this two helpers come......are they called "Pat a Mat"??.....to say true plenty woodland arround and there is small house small bathroom.......like there is no space .....type in you tube "Pat a Mat" and it will help you more how to doit job more easy
