Ross toured the Saint-Gobain R&D Facility in Massachusetts (https://www.saint-gobain.com/en). The solar reflective shingles with 20% or less solar reflectivity that Ross saw are Landmark and Landmark Pro Solaris shingles. How is this future shingles? Where is the photovoltaic elements?
I thought the solar singles generate electricity.
What is the payback period for the two reflective shingles?
The concept of asphalt shingles (reflective or not) just seems like an archaic construction tradition.
Considering the fact that we already have photovoltaic shingles, and these only increase the reflectivity by 10%, this seems like a really weak product. Unless, of course, they are about the same price as regular shingles, which I'm betting isn't the case.

Putting lipstick on a pig, asphalt shingles are like plastic knives. Metal roofing all the way.
As a person who lives in Arizona and in an newer construction home with tile shingles. Is there any material that you can spray onto the tile roofs which has the same reflectivity? This would work great in a home remodel but the newer homes are all built with tile roofs with Spanish style architecture. Infact so is much of southern California and new mexico along with Texas all new construction have tile roofs.

Reflecting heat away from the shingled roof a building or concerns with the high temperatures of the roof surface should be of no concern to a homeowner unless you have a flat roof. A properly engineered sloped roof over a properly insulated and ventilated attic space will not transmit heat to the living areas of the home. The roof surface should provide no heating advantage during winter months and no cooling disadvantage during hot summer months. Fix the roofing system rather than the surface of the deck, otherwise you just putting lipstick on a pig.
