I have some jobs where I need to weld some round parts, tubing, pipe, etc and wanted to make a simple welding turn table. If used correctly, you can achieve some amazing tig welds!
I just used some various steel parts around the shop to make this welding positioner. You can lay down welds that look like the guys that stack dimes! there are alot of names for this type of device. welding turn table, welding rotisserie, welding lathe, and many others.

Would be good to incorporate some means on locating a cylindrical part concentric to the axis.
"Simple" to me doesn't mean using a lathe... it means basic, easily performed by the vast majority of the population.
If I could afford all those other tools, I'd just buy a welding positioner.
This is a joke right? You've got a $10,000 lathe and you can't be assed to spend $350 on a cheap rotary positioner?
How did you do all that lathe work and the plate had a hop to it?
This is a really smart idea. You could apply the same principle and just use a lazy susan.

u can make a longer shaft and a round plate at the bottom so u can rotate it by foot just like the old tables for pottery

Turn up the post flow, your tungsten shouldn’t change color like that! Adding gas after the weld is done will prevent your electrode from becoming contaminated.
