In this video I am showing you the single best woodworking technique that we use on a regular basis in the shop, utilizing templates. We use some sort of template on almost every project we build, and they allow us to create complex shapes, smooth transitions and perfectly replicated parts easily and precisely. There are a lot of important steps that I go over in this video including creating templates with various techniques, using templates for different parts of a project, and using templates in a way that will improve your woodworking significantly.

  • Great video, however Bob is not my cousin, he’s my grandpa. Oh and he’s got great vintage tools.

  • Just came across your video - well done and I definitely learned some good techniques. And the table design looks great (working myself up to something similar for our dining room after practicing on a few more smaller projects).

I can't figure out why you wouldn't use the CNC to cut the actual parts rather than make templates. What's your reasoning? Thanks
