In this project. I am repurposing some beautiful 6 quarter mahogany that I found for free!! We are taking these planks from a heavy outdated coffee table to a sleek modern industrial desk.
I prepped the wood as usual using the jointer (two sides), planner, and finally the table saw and finished with a simple glue up. I cut a 45 on both pieces to get my corner desk look.
For the base I am using 16 gauge 2×2 steal tubing that I had left over from a fence door I built. (Watch here: http://bit.ly/2JHeNeI )
This was a fantastic metalworking and wood working project that any diy person could put together in a weekend. It is also a great opportunity to practice your welding and woodworking skills.
This modern/industrial furniture style really makes a nice statement and the corner shape helps you to maximize your space.
