Thanks for sharing I’m just getting into plastic welding! I have a question can you plastic weld PVC?
Didn't realize a soldering iron worked so well with plastic, thanks for helping fix my keyboard.
Is this safer and stronger bonding than using MEK?
I used a steel nail with the same thickness as the original soldering tip. The (flat) nail-head works perfectly for a tip and because its made out of steel it doesnt burn the plastic as fast as copper would, meaning less (toxic) smoke and a more relaxed melting of the plastics while operating it.
Cracks tend to grow. Always drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it from spreading then continue with the weld. Thanks for the video.
Who else broke their headphones and was wondering if this was a viable method of repair
Do something exciting!
Thanks! Fixing an important piece of plastic and this makes it simple!
This works great. My mower hood is polycarbonate. Stitched right back together. Just wish I could find something red polycarbonate to use for filling holes and missing bits. Any suggestions?
I used some 1!2 inch staples on a trash can that split and just put the iron on the staples until they melted through, I think that part may be the strongest part of the can now lol
