Can you tig on a old Lincoln 225 ac
Can such a TIG torch be added to a Lincoln flux-wire/MIG welder (Weld-Pak 100HD)? I've read that flux-core wire and MIG welders are "constant voltage" whereas stick and TIG are "constant current".
Since it's not constant current, can the 100HD do TIG? (Of course a gas supply will also have to be provided.)
This machine allows swapping + and - leads and has option for argon gas (a tube connects to the wire feed block).

Did I miss the part where you turn an arc welder into a tig welder? Maybe in my old age I dozed off.
CAN I USE A Lincoln electric ac-225 stick welder for tig welding?
You said you can hook up a tig with almost any welder.
Awhile ago I got set me up for tig welding with my Lincoln Power Mig. 350MP.
It did not work because when you use the pedal there is no gradual start, it is ether on or off. That is what my son is telling me. A salesman told me that the problem was that we need to purchase a new machine that is specifically designed for tig welding if we want to get a unit that is comfortable to work with.
Is it possible there is just a problem with the peddle or there is some simple missing component?
If not, can you now recommend a tig machine that we should get for any gauge steel up to 1/2? Would a different machine be needed for thicker steel? And for aluminum, what is needed for that?
