Today’s video shares tips on how to tile a shower with subway tile, specifically the main shower wall. We used 4×12 inch tiles with SeamClips to tile the wall, around a bench, inside a niche, and more.

Step 1 is to determine the layout of the subway tile.
We centered the tile on the main shower wall such that it was centered on the shower drain.
Step 2 is to ensure no slivers of tile are left at the bottom, in corners, or at transitions between the ceiling, bench or niche.
Use a laser level to keep tiles level and plumb.
Also, SeamClips aren’t totally necessary but our tile was 4×12 inches. Smaller subway tiles, e.g. 3×6 inches, definitely don’t need SeamClips.
Step 3 is to back butter every single tile with the flat side of a trowel. And use the correct notch for the tile size and weight. In this example we used a 1/4″ x 1/4″ square notched trowel along with Ardex X77 thin-set.
Glass mosaic can be cut with the angle grinder and Montolit CGX115 diamond blade. Wet tile saws can be used as well but often times the mosaic is hard to keep together when it gets wet.
Remove the SeamClips and horseshoe shims from the subway tile the day after setting the tile. And hit the SeamClips along the grout joint as this makes the Clip break properly.

U mentioned that u used a grinder to shape the middle told to the pan. Did u have to do it for the whole bottom row ?
I centered the wall for layout . 3x6 subway 1/8 spacers. But I ended up with a small cut about 1.75 inches every other row. It's balanced all the way up wall. But I would've liked to have a bigger cut in the corners.
I hope your getting paid by the hour,you'd never make it working by the square foot.
Are you using a tripod with the laser level to set the height? If so what tripod are you using?

How come you do not just tile the whole bathroom and cut the quartz bench at the end to size? I'm doing subway tiles as well and wanted to get a quartz bench as well
I have the same 4x12 subway tiles in our shower. Our tile installer used a concrete based brown coat which seemed to be well done. Now we have several tiles cracking around the shampoo cut out and in other places the tiles are cracked hortizontally. Anyone know what might cause this?Tiles are spaced 1/8 inch.
