– acrylic shower pan
– galvanized screws, for attaching shower pan to studs
– PVC drain pipe and assorted fittings
– PVC primer
– PVC cement
– _-inch plywood strips, used to build out studs
Tools for How to Replace a Shower Pan:
– reciprocating saw, used to cut out old acrylic shower surround
– drill/driver
– hammer
– cold chisel, used to chop out floor tile
– rubber mallet, used to install compression gasket to drainpipe
– 4-foot level
– tape measure

Rubber gasket goes on bottom side and you have to use plumbers putty screws n the top side well atleast that’s how I’ve always done it
No mortar under shower base.... that base will flex and crack in no time......
I like an project they do its always a house with a basement where they dont have to go in a 2 foot crawl space. makes life much simpler for them.

I can almost guarantee you the drain leaks on the bottom side of the pan, they did not install that drain fixture properly. Both the rubber and the paper gaskets go on the bottom side and putty goes on the top side
Drain is wrong. putty or silicone caulk goes between the flange and the finished surface. Rubber against the bottom, then paper gasket, then nut.
Make sure you scratch the base with your drill. This guys kind of a hack
Is it me the rubber on the top of the drain not at the bottom, I thought putty or silicone is use at the top?
Would you have to insert some type of water proof liner at the bottom ? Anything to waterproof ?
