How to make a welding table

Here’s my take on how to make an affordable welding table. The top is made out of 1/4″ plate and the angle is 1.5 x 1.5 x 3/16 angle. I was able to make this by only spending 200 dollars. the table measures 6 foot by 3 foot and stands at 35 inches tall. It also sits on four heavy duty casters.

  • Very nice job in the table. I like your idea using angle iron instead of square tube. Very nicely done.

  • Hey Adam, I love your welding table! I'm looking to make something very similar. My question is, after about a year and a half, has your table started to surface rust at all? Either where you grinded/welded on it or anywhere including the sheet metal on top? I would think leaving the metal unfinished would cause surface rust. Thanks!

  • I made my welding table out of the racking like Home Depot and Lowes uses.  I cut it to height snapped it together and then welded it permanently.  Then I welded a 1/2 in plate to it for the top.  That racking holds untold amounts of weight when you look at them so I figured it was good enough for me.  The racking was free and I got a 4x8 piece of 1/2" plate for $300.

  • I have the same Clarke welder and harbor freight welding stand!

  • Why did you stick weld the top to the frame? I'm a total newbie. The reason I ask is all I have is a MIG and wondered if there would be a problem if I use the MIG for this step if I follow the same design. Great video BTW. Well done.

  • Thanks for taking the time to video that , I was wondering what size and lb’s capacity they caster you have are ?
