Mailbox... Not a post.boring
This is way beyond my skill set but I loved watching it. Maybe I’ll try something like this. Ever thought of making a woodworking course? I bet a lot of people would buy it.
This is some beautiful craftsmanship. I am from and live Texas but I have lived in Traverse City Mi for about 3 years. I just purchased your plans for this mailbox. I hope to make it a beautiful addition for my home.
So, I'm wondering. Would a coat or 2 of plain clear fiberglass epoxy be better protection outside than the spar varnish?
Just google woodprix instructions and make some dust.
After 4 yrs of carpentry spent in south of Italy i can tell that's not a diy job that everybody can do, you have to be familiar with measurement and use of tool, you know what you're doing and make it look easy but it isn't for everybody out there...nice video, nice music but you dhould make people aware otherwise they'll be disappointed when they'll try and they would have a piece of crap instead of a nice result...just saying.
Your attention to detail is one of the reasons you are in my top 5 woodworkers to go to when I need help with something. Plus Utz is really cute!! The thru-mortises and the tusk are what will make your post stand out from others in the neighborhood. I've been putting off making my new post but, now I have some inspiration thanks to you ;>) Those tools sure are sharp looking. What is your impression of them, such as holding an edge? PS: As a former mail carrier, thank you for following the height and distance regulations for a mailbox installation. People don't realize or don't care about where a box goes. I had a new customer who put their mailbox 5' from the curb and wondered why she was not getting delivery. I had given her a packet I made up for new customers of publications with instructions on installing a mailbox along with a list of our services and regulations when I first saw her moving in. Lol, glad that's behind me now!
Whoa, who knew there were actually regulations to install a mailbox?
If you put the timber post directly in the ground, will it not rot?
take a drink every time he says Lowe's lol
