  • so how many ppl is required to install the same thing? b/c u just did that pretty easily

  • If I didn’t somehow know I wanted to get into Wall Street craziness since I was 16 (now 39) I would have loved to have been a skilled craftsmen/carpenter.

  • You like everyone has an opinion on what to do about baseboards. Personally, I have found taking them off and putting them back on after the floor down looks the best but lots of work. On the other hand, undercutting them which looks like what you did is an option and saves you some time if the floor is nice and level. No right or wrong answer just a preference!

  • Nice work. Love that you are a conscientious worker and took the time to ensure you checked and prepared the area well and that when done you cleaned up and left perfect, not dirty and messy.

On the transition, I recently had to do a transition into concrete and, I can tell you from experience, that can be zero fun and time consuming. You can not always install the metal track and get matching t-molding. I recently had to custom make the transition, stain to match, use concrete anchors and screws through the face covered with face-grain plugs and touched up two hide and blend in. What made this particularly time consuming is that it was not a 3' doorway but 24 linear feet transitioning from a dinning room to a hallway / walkway.

Oh, and I do prefer to take the cut-off from each row to start the next row, it keeps the seams inconsistent and makes it look more random, like a hardwood floor. But, your strategy is also a fine one and gives a great look.

Finally, one question, did you create another space on the opposite wall or with laminate do you think the one 3/16, or whatever the width of the laminate is as a space, is sufficient?

  • As a professional flooring installer I appreciate your video. I can tell by your workmanship that you're super handy. I personally prefer a random stagger with the material. I believe the manufacturer recommends each board is staggered double the width of the material..

  • Lol watching this after my painters did a horrible job and we were planning on having them do flooring lol not sure now
