He mentioned possible roof leaks. Could you please link us to a previous video of his pertaining to fixing roof leaks around a pipe vent in the roof? If there isn't one could you ask Tom to make a video for us? Thank you.
Yes I had seen that one and Thank you for the link!! But I believe there is a leak through the flashing. Is there another video by Tom on how to fix/replace the flashing around a roof vent tube? Or could he make one please
this is not really how you ''fix'' leaky vinyl siding, with all due respect
Tom: Come on! That siding isn't even nailed. I gues you can't tell the whole story. This siding relies upon channels to cover the gaps for movement. Channels collect water and direct it under the siding. I agree the trim needed caulking but it was recessed to start. There is no overhang on the roof and the 'J' Channel is butted up against the Fascia. This is a double wammy. I bet that Fascia wrap is just tucked under the gutter and not wrapping the fascia. A simple gutter overload could cause water to enter. Anyway siding that uses channels is wrong. 'J' Channels are good for interior but not exterior. I guess you would not stay on TV if you told people this.
hope that stops leak...
she must be a professional she only chalked with one hand, out doing tom he needed two ha ha ha
Vinyl siding won't rot out your walls if it's installed correctly; it requires a WRB under it just like any other kind of siding. But the stuff is so tacky, ugly, cheap and short lived that people expect it to be installed for the price of a paint job, so they are more likely to screw up the waterproofing during its frequent replacements. I'd rather get something more substantial that it going to last, so they can install it right and be done with it.
I like it. Thx.
No vinyl siding installation is waterproof. Water will always leak around where the siding goes into the corners, the J channels and J blocks. It will also leak where the siding laps and where the J channel abuts windows or trim if not caulked. The outside of the house must be totally waterproofed BEFORE the vinyl siding installation begins. All openings (where J channel or sill trim butts up to an existing house member ) must be sealed with water proofing tape or adhesive membrane to the waterproofing like house-wrap tar-paper, foam sheets (which also must have all its joints taped to prevent water incursion). With proper installation and annual cleanings vinyl siding will remain beautiful last a lifetime.
Haha girl is so scared ! I was like that also when I first started installing siding , and that jchannel is soooo loose should've put more nails on it.
