  • Really good well thought out build the only challenge will now be keeping it empty if the garage gets cluttered.

  • Very ambitious, sooo heavy, have to build in place then drywall around it

  • I don't see why it couldn't withstand a strong tornado. As long as it stays anchored, which I would imagine it would.

  • Awesome build! Might want to put some ear plugs in there in case you need to use the tools to get out.

  • Nice job! The safe room I'm building (4'DX6'WX8"H) will have a 9", 12 volt color monitor in it, powered by a 12 volt lithium battery stored in the safe room. There will be a 10 watt solar panel mounted on the outside of the south side of the house to keep the monitor battery charged. The plan is to put 12 volt automotive cameras in different locations of the house to show the outside condition of the home while we are inside the safe room. All interior lighting, fans and TV/ Ham Radios will be 12 volt too. My safe room is on the South side of the house on a section of wrap around porch we never use and the access will be through the Master Bedroom Closet. I will be lining my walls and ceiling with Level 3 Armorcore panels over a "C" Purlin steel frame. Mine will have a bench type couch, where the back can be raised and locked horizontal to make bunk beds. Just thought I'd throw the 12 volt equipment idea out so others who are planning to duplicate your build will make use of some inexpensive monitoring equipment anyone can buy on EBAY.
I too live in Texas, just north of Fort Worth.
