Learning how to apply Mapei grout on shower wall tiles is easy. Our video shares all the steps. Our online courses have more awesome tips https://www.homerepairtutor.com/course-library/
The first step in applying Mapei grout is to choose the correct type. This video shows us applying grout to glazed tiles, which have a tendency to scratch if you use sanded grout or a grout that contains quartz. Plus, our grout lines are 1/8 of an inch. Typically, if your grout lines are less than 1/8 of an inch, unsanded grout is a good option.
Step two is to decide if you want to use a grout maximizer instead of water when you mix the grout. In this example we used Mapei’s Grout Maximizer instead of water to improve the Keracolor U’s stain resistance, strength, and workability. This grout is in a rental and I want it to look good for years. So using Mapei’s Grout Maximizer was a no brainer.
Step three is to dry mix the Keracolor U by shaking the bag for 1-2 minutes. This mixing all the ingredients and helps the dry mixture blend into a homogenous consistency.
Step 4 is to add 85% of the Grout Maximizer to a 5-gallon bucket and pour the Keracolor U onto it. This helps minimize the dust. Mix the two components with a drill & mixer but don’t whip them too much because than create air pockets in the grout which leads to pinholes in your grout.

Question for you: Does white unsanded grout appear very similar to drywall compound prior to sealing? Would I be able to scrape off the grout easily with my fingernails (and have it look almost like powder on my finger), even after it had been dry for a month? Or would it be quite a bit harder than chalky drywall compound after it had dried. Thank you!
how did the grout hold up after all this time?
Didn’t keep the pattern on the top, which also created a tiny piece......what do I win?
A contractor put glass tiles on the shower wall, and the spacing is 1/16(small), the grout cracked and water started to sip through the wall, do I need to remove all the existing grout to put new grout? We caught it in time and the tile doesn’t seem like it’s coming off.

Hi,
So if you read the instructions on the grout maximizer says not to use water at all after it's been mixed and the grout joints have been filled. all you do is scrape off as much as you can diagonally on the surface of the tile.
Let it dry 15 to 20 minutes and then buff it off with a terry-cloth, white in color.
The grout turns to powder and wipes off easily.
I suggest using a dust mask.
Hey buddy, you are not floating that grout into the joints correctly at all.
I've been instructed by a professional to apply at a 45 degree angle.
