  • Cool! If you use a depth stop on your drill bit (small metal thing that clamps down on the drill) you can drill to the exact depth much easier.

  • I am so glad I found this you and this video. I'm building a lavatory cabinet for my son's bathroom and the top is 2" cedar planks but there are two of them and I have to join them together. I've been fretting about how to get either biscuits or dowels pins lined up properly so they would be even....Waalaa...problem solved with dowel centers. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • You would have to be brain dead to use the unfluted dowels as the fluted dowels distribute the glue much better!!!

  • How to measure depth on side panel where hole must be deeper?

  • Nice. Just starting with dowel joinery. Didnt know about the pins. Tape slips on the bit though in my experience

  • How about this: The dowel pin goes thru one plywood cross-sectionally and goes thru the other ply lengthwise. So why not drill right thru the cross section of one plywood and into the length of the other, then tap the dowel thru? U can cover up the surface with wood paste and then put laminate/veneer/paint on top.

  • Mamamia! I want to cry. Seams so easy. I am working on a old window frame with 2 opening windows that I have remove for now. I want to make a wall cabinet for my grains and flours in the kitchen. I even try to channel my grand father that was a carpenter, nope he is busy helping someone else today .
I took a break just to see how it was done. I had a good idea but realised that my little pointers are not (long) enough. I need a third hand! thank you for posting this video
