Today on Modern Builds I’m making a mid-century modern inspired dining table with a neat, angled, metal base out of aluminum tubing Without Welding. My video last week (no-weld coffee table) was an experiment in making a no-weld metal base and it came out pretty nice. BUT, because I used 3/4″ tubing, I didn’t have a lot of
“meat” to drill and screw into. It did work, but had room to be stronger, so I picked up some 2.5″ square aluminum tubing and designed a dining table around that. I couldn’t be happier with how this table came out…it might be my favorite build to date. Plus, it’s STRONG! like really strong. Would like to know when will you show the making of a headboard
Welding aluminum might be hard for beginners in terms of both skill and equipment. But it's quite easy to braze (solder) aluminum. They sell special alloy brazing rods for aluminum. All you need to create strong, good looking bond is the consumable rod and some blowtorch. There are interresting youtube videos on this topic.

Hey Mike, I'm watching ALL of your vids and I don't know if you go back this far to check your comments but from what I've seen from you so far I think you're the kind of guy that does - so here's me stuck in with this Corona Virus pandemic and thinking about doing my garage storage...….. so I started but I took my laptop to the garage with me just so I keep reviewing all your great content. I have to say I love love love your energy on your video(s)! I want to thank you so much for the wide range of projects you start and finish right to the end. I hope that I can include a picture of my garage when it's done. Anyway now for a tip - you probably know this - when using spray paint once you're done and assuming you didn't finish the can - before you put it back on your tidy shelf remember to always turn it upside down and spray till you see no colour - this will prevent clogging the nozzle so that when you want to use it again you actually can! And last for a suggestion: I've seen a few cooking shows that have something that would be a great idea for your vids - an overhead mirror assembly for another brilliant view of what's happening on you workspace - Anyway here's hoping you not only get back to read some comments but that you actually read it to the end! I apologize for writing a book here - hope you keep these videos going! Great job
