DIY Modern Dining Table w/ Matching Benches | Modern Builds

Today on Modern Builds I’m making a matching DIY metal & wood dining table set. The two benches store directly underneath the table top for convenient storage. A little Woodworking, a little Metalworking…. something for everybody.

  1. I probably would have used pieces of angle for the legs then the flat bar for top and bottom. Also drive a couple lag bolts in from each of the sides!

  2. I believe I would have welded the braces to the upper third and not the lower one because the way you did it doesn’t allow the head places of the table to be used because one’s chins will hit the brace. (I don’t know if welding it to the upper third would solve the problem because it could hit one’s knees though..)

But I get you made this to your own specifications and looks like you don’t intend to sit anyone at the head of the table (judging by the two benches) so… nice work. And good looking; I like the legs attaching to the top of the table and not under it.

  3. This built with no skills. But hey you invested in some stuff. The "design" ist really bad. I know its hard to reinvent the wheel. You didnt expact it is too thin… Everybody makes mistakes. But you think you are a expert or average designer or something like that? I mean… you didnt expect? Screws at the top? Maybe a contact surface under the Wood and welding afterwards… thank me later
