Building a new house, drain piping installation around foundation

Building our new house I installed the drain piping around the foundation. this piping will have the gutter fro the roof attached to it, and the water will be roughed to the infiltration pit. It is very important that you understand your load installation requirements, for example Kitsap county in Washington requires the piping to be inspected, but Pierce county in washing dose not. This video will show you the layout and a commentary on how to do it yourself (DIY). Enjoy.

  • Umm, I wouldn't have done it quite like that. There's no clean outs, and parts of that system are going to sag and fill up with roof crud. Everything goes to one outlet, plus at 90deg it's not going to flow well either. Some Y bends from the downpipes would help the flow a lot. And that 45deg kick-out bugs me, seems a bit clunky.
But hey, you are building an entire house, so massive kudos for that.

  • Dont you want the pipe at the bottom of the footer??? We run our down spouts in a separate pipe 2 feet deep and daylight it. Is that system just for the down spouts hense no holes or gravel?

  • evidently not in the north where the frost line is 6'. would br frozen every year and would never work, evidently level all the way around , so water doesnt drain properly . also if your sewer pipe isnt under the foundation you are asking for trouble , wouldnt follow any ideas here .

  • What about your min. 2% drainage slope? You're footing should be flat and running drainage pipe on top defies logic to me. I have always waited until backfill up against the footer and the control the slope by grading the backfill to slope before laying the pipe... just curious!

  • Our little back porch roof fills two 55gal drums sometimes more than once in a single storm. The repository for the water seems like it is not sufficient for a whole house. What am I missing?

  • Is this a custom home because your back patio looks just like the one I’m building it’s 27x12 with a 2 foot inset just like yours.
