Building a CONCRETE RIVER TABLE w/ DIY No-Weld Metal Base

Today on Modern Builds I’m creating a totally DIY, white concrete river coffee table with a no-weld steel base. Live edge river tables made with wood slabs have been crazy popular trend as of late and I wanted to put my own spin on it! Look forward to more concrete experiments like this in the future!!

  • Been really looking forward to this seeing this since you talked about it on the podcast and it definitely didn't disappoint! Really clever solution to not having a welder - both cheap and effective - and the cracked edge of the concrete looks amazing! I love the tactility and intricacy it brings which contrasts with the rest of the design, and although I see where others are coming from re. the open space with a coffee table I personally don't think you ever really need to use the full surface as the edges are plenty for mugs, books etc :)

  • I think you're supposed to fill the gap in with acrylic or something. Things will fall through that table if you use it as is.

  • I was waiting for that epoxy I'm not gonna lie, and also
sexy and talented? my heart can't take it

  • They have a wax spray for that type of molding which is much easier than spreading car detail wax.

  • Maybe you could add to middle part the thin and black painted surface by gluing from below. So you would still see the crack but the empty part would be useable. It looks more like a 'crazy' art stuff rather than a fancy design like this.. but still good, far away from being cliche...
