Bathroom Renovation- Drywall Taping- 1st and 2nd coat (Part 2)
http://www.russolinatzpainting.com
In this video, I show you how to drywall tape (1st and 2nd Coat) a newly installed piece of drywall that has a wide gap. I profile the drywall Butt joint and drywall factory joints. I pre-fill or pack the gap first with a Setting type mud (Plaster of Paris mixed with USG All Purpose joint compound). This not only fills the gap, but also creates a smoother surface to tape to and allows the drywall paper tape to embed to a more even surface, resulting in less bubbling. I also fill the drywall screw holes and fix some other imperfections in the old drywall using the Plaster of Paris quick set mud. I use a Hyde drywall Hawk and a 12 inch Marshalltown Trowel to apply the drywall compound.

  • So why do you need the plaster of Paris instead of just drywall? You probably say it in your video. Very helpful!

  • Great educational video. I have been remodeling for years, and knew the drill about removing the loose paper and beveling hole.openings, but never learned the plaster of Paris trick. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and knowledge.

  • I commented on your previous post and i am learning a lot. I think you are great and I dont see that you monetized your videos. I dont know exactly how it works but adding commercials at the beginning or randomly later on, you can make this teaching, something that you can get paid for. For such a smart, talented young man, It may help you as you are starting out. I have 2 grown sons and neither of them has your skills. It looks like you had a very good teacher yourself. I wish you all of the best. And I wish I could hire you to help me with my drywall repairs that I have. I am 52 and just learning. But I really enjoy it

  • I think this guy is just stretching things out to make more videos to make money. He probably don't even stutter. Probably all a scam like his videos

  • Thank you so much. This is very helpful for a rookie like me.

  • Learn to use mesh screen. It will change your whole game and give you higher end wall finishes.

  • I found this video after finally getting around to fixing the drywall in my bathroom. You tackled this job like it was no big deal, thanks for sharing some experience so now I will have knowledge to help me.
