the way the plumber installed the pipes destroyed the joists. The home owner should be very concern.
Where is the toilet vent?
Sometimes I cut my joist with a chainsaw, joist are not for structure, they are for looks only, right ?
Also, I set my closet flange 6-8 inches above the floor all the time
I thought this was part four....1. picking out the right place to a add the bathroom.
2. laying out the plans for connecting the drain and water pipes to existing pipes.
3. asking the plumbers about the size of the pipes and codes.
4. metal plates are on there so you don't drill into the drain pipe. Support plates are different.

they are nail guards, they are not there for joist support......the pipe size cannot be smaller because of code requirements, inch and a half dwv pipe is minimum required, but all things considered, it is the best they could do given the circumstances that exist
