3 Tier Metal & Wood Book Shelf | Modern Builds | DIY

Today on Modern Builds we’re making a bookshelf with wood shelves and a welded metal frame. If you’ve never welded before, this may be the perfect place to start! It’s a simple project that is super functional and has a simple, clean, modern look. Thanks for watching!

  • Great build! For those that want to take it 1 step further::: after you grind and sand the welds, use a torch to get the joint red hot. Let it cool. The joint will disappear. Makes for a significantly cleaner look. If there are holes or pits after sanding, just fill them in with wed and do it again.

  • Have you tried the horse shoe motion it works pretty well with FCAW and it’s one of my personal favorite motions

  • Just wanted to remind any new welders of a few key principals:
    Fusion is important
Never weld dirty materials to avoid contamination
If your welds have air bubbles visible it is not structural

  • Great tutorial and just what I was looking for - sturdy floating shelves that are pretty easy to make and, as a bonus, on a budget. Thanks! 1:16

  • Wow, is it possible to make something like that without having that fancy saw and welding?

  • Sir, please make 1"x1" metal frame and side and back using 9mm sheet fix inside of frame, and 18mm wood door. Shelf also frame with 9mm. Portable wardrobe, will you please make it
